I am busy changing the oil on a TRX300. It seems that the previous owner fitted the oil filter element the wrong way around.
This filter is fitted with the open end toward the engine as it would be on an LTZ400, but the oil channels on the TRX300 seems to be the other way around?
If I understand it correctly the oil is pumped via a channel into the centre of the filter through a hole that fits neatly over the oil channel. The opposite end of the filter is closed forcing the oil through the sides of the element into the oild filter chamber from where it flows back into the engine. The closed side of the filter presses against a spring that allow oil pressure to force the filter out of the way, should it get blocked or impede oil flow. Is this correct?
