View Full Version : Oil Filter positioning (TRX300)?

I am busy changing the oil on a TRX300. It seems that the previous owner fitted the oil filter element the wrong way around.

This filter is fitted with the open end toward the engine as it would be on an LTZ400, but the oil channels on the TRX300 seems to be the other way around?

If I understand it correctly the oil is pumped via a channel into the centre of the filter through a hole that fits neatly over the oil channel. The opposite end of the filter is closed forcing the oil through the sides of the element into the oild filter chamber from where it flows back into the engine. The closed side of the filter presses against a spring that allow oil pressure to force the filter out of the way, should it get blocked or impede oil flow. Is this correct?

Not really necessary considering it's a very simple question about how to install an oil filter. 250r's may not have them but it doesn't mean some of us can't explain how to do it.

And SWIGIN already answered the question.

My apologies. I didn't see a TRX300 forum so I just grabbed the engine size closest to 300. Didn't even see the think that the "R"is in fact the two-stroke bike.

Thanks for the help though.

Nah. It's only 6:15 am here. Still on coffee to get the blood flowing. Will go have a look in an hour or so.
