With the introduction of Custom axis air shocks, I'm thinking I may go that way.

But I'm wondering with Fox Floats if they can be setup for different applications by the user rather than a shock specialist.

Yes these shock are very versatile, they still use oil and nitrogen for dampening but the way you want the shock to feel is all in the air. The Evol chamber on the Fox is for bottom out resistance similar to a coil on a spring shock and the main chamber is to setup ride height so you can raise or lower the ride height as well as change the bottom out resistance. IMO these are the best shocks and i love them they take a little fine tuning but if you keep a chart or log on your setup you can easily change the shocks for dunes,XC,desert or MX.

Well I guess that settles it then. Air shocks it is.

Now to find some used and just another question, do the Fox evol's come with a manual?

I don't suppose the Fox podium has the same adjustability since it's a coil over?

Yes the Evols come with a setup manual and pumps so make sure if you buy used to get all of that, and as far as the podium shock mine is setup for mx, there is really no adjustability on the podium shock per say you can adj the comp/reb of the shock and adjust the ride height bu the spring is still what it is setup for mx will be stiffer and xc/dunes will be a softer spring.
