Hey folks...I have had a raptor 660 and a 400ex in the past but I am thinking of getting a 4x4 quad now....dont need to go fast anymore just want to be able to go anywhere. Anyhow..I am 601" and weigh in at 255 lbs. What would be a good overall 4x4 quad for someone my size? I am looking to spend about $4000...so used is an option.

i love my grizzly. the newer 700's are way more then 4k even used.

a 660 is still a solid machine and is in the 4k price range.

i would def get something with IRS for the better ride. if you don't plan on going faster the only benifit to a solid axle in the rear is the price. they are normally cheaper.

OK...I just raised my spending limit....have been looking at the Kawi BF, Yama Grizzley, Polaris Sportsman 500 and the hondas....I think dollar for dollar I would get the most bang for my buck out of the polaris but, I have never owned one....are they any good?

The '08 yamaha grizzly 700 FI EPS Is by far the best atv 4x on the market. I look at all of them and researched for over 6 months before I purchesed. I like both Honda,Polaris, and CanAm, but for the most bang for the buck with features, options, and accessories Yamaha's Grizzly 700 take the lead. I've been out in the low and high desert from wash to rock filled trails and in most cases only needed the 4x on the worst of them. But when you engage it the whole trail is yours to concour. It's incredible what I could do. I do recommend investing in shield as the stock plastic cover won't protect the under side much. The only draw back to this atv would have to be the operator, yup! ME.

It seems that you're looking for a arctic cat: 1050 lb. towing capacity, diff lock, duramatic belt, 12" clearance. This quad helps me work hard and it ride very well : max speed 90 kmh, 10" suspension. Have 1700 km on and zero problems (i'm very hard rider, 200 lbs.).

The best $ for $ is the polaris sportsman they make good power i would probly pipe one to get use of the most power. they can handle abuse
a freind bought an 08 and with me and him on it a branch we measured 9ft in the air could hit me if i didn't duck and i watched him hit that same jump landing on flat ground o idk about 100 times rolled fliped up down around on hills it still runs just needs a new key slot after all the abuse

I recommend polaris sportsman 500HO because it is the best $5,700 you could spend for a front diff locking atv if your a mudder like me.

( was i too hard on my 500 Ho.)
