Just be happy for the kid dude, just because we cant all afford 8-click big bottles doesnt mean you gotta rag on us.

Hell, im still running 450r takeoffs and a worn out rear shock.:ermm:

416exfreak- we diddn't order anythig special, thats how they came.

Jersey450r- sorry i'm not rich... i'm not tryin' to sound like a d**k, but i worked my butt off to afford these. i dont race, i don't need 1500 dollar shocks. cut me some slack, i'm only 15... not old enough to get a job, and i bought my own shocks, i'm proud of that.

I am not making fun of them at all becuase I love pep shocks and I just bought a new set of standard travel ones myself. If you dont mind me asking what model shocks are those like are they the $1200 ones or the $650 ones? Only reason I asked is becuase I dont see a compression knob on them like mine have.

on the bottom of the rezzie? thats to fill it up with nitrogen, dont mess with that haha!

Btw the way nice shocks dude, with PEP's there set up so well from the factory you'll have all the adjustments you'll ever need!!!

You should be proud that you payed for them, nothing like that feeling!

another thing... when ever you lift the front up, you hear them "clunk" because the shocks reach there limit. is this bad?

01-24-2008, 05:13 PM
That is normal, I asked the same question nearly 6 years ago when I bought my aftermarket shocks......completely normal though.

Congrats on the new shocks. New parts kick ***. I wouldn't worry about the adjustments either. Sometimes I think people put more value into what the shocks can do instead of what you can do with the shocks.:macho

You can race as much as you want with those shocks. If you want to do yourself a real favor when you've got the $, send the stock rear to whoever and have the PEP rebuild done to it. Then you're even all the way around. The reason you don't see the real fast guys with those type of stocks is because you get a lot of "bounce" when you are really moving. The ZPS's (Elka or PEP) don't bounce you around. They have kind-of a "dead" feel when you land and you are ON the ground good instead of them rebounding too hard and losing a little contact. There are a lot more examples but basically the ZPS shocks keep you closer to the ground and keep the tire all on the ground better.

Are you planning on getting a arms or an axle anytime in the near future? Either way if you are just a trail rider pretty much like me then you will love them becuase in my opinion pep are the best shocks out there. If I wasn't doing all that I did to my quad I would of just kept stock a arms and got those shocks insted of the zps 8 click compression ones. Dont know if your still confused or not about if they are compression adjustable but you can see the red compression knob on mine.

Id do it in reverse order.

You'll be amazed at how much faster the wider a-arms and axle will let you go.

I'd have to agree with 416freak, you can have all the HP you want but it's useless if you don't have the suspension to handle it.

thanks guys. i have a little ride report..... i diddn't ride much because it was, well to say the least like a pond due to all the melting snow and what not. but i did some road riding with my cousin at his house. there wasn't many "extreme" conditions but i did manage to find a few deep pot holes to hit:devil:. soaked it up like there never was a pot hole.... until it hit the back lol.

i have a little ride report. diddn't ride much, but i think it was enough to get the feel of how they work.

All i can say is WOW. my quad corners like its on rails now. i have one croner that i used to hit in the top of second gear that i can now hit in third easily. any turn that i went through that used to make me feel like i was gonna flip, doesn't bother me any more at all. i have also done a littlr road riding and it's a blast chargin' into corners with these.

overall i am VERY satisfied and would definately recomend them for anyone who wants a great set of shocks for a great price.
