any cdi box that is not a vortex or dyna is made by pro-com. and they have been known to fail. the dyna is the prefered choice. i have one.

the alba and other cdi's allow the engine to rev higher than stock. usually in the 1000-2000rpm range. which allows you to rev higher and stay in the powerband longer.

with the over rev they usually change your timing curve. one problem with putting these on a stock motor is the valves will usually let go. due to the higher rpm's. and extra strain on the powertrain. and like stated above any other brand than dyna or vortex are just rebadged versions on the pro-com. some have run them for a long time with no problems, but there are many cases of them failing. keep the stock cdi around if you plan on running a pro-com. that way you will be able to switch it out when and if it fails.
