View Full Version : broke valve cover bolt on 250x!

Hey guys i got a question i was puting gaskets and i snaped one of the valve cover boltd toward like the middle its a longer onr do you think it will be ok without it? because they way where it is its gonna be real hard to get at thaanks please help me out!!!!!!

NICE! butt um ya i did the same thing on my last engine, and well ya it didnt seal up and leaked where that bolt was. Only way to get to that would be to take the head cover off get n easy out n use it to pull the bolt out, then jus get some high temp gasket sealer at any auto parts store. i did it with 2 bolts on mine its not to hard to fix just a ***** when it something u dont wanna do.

did it leak alot out of it? like i put it back and put some sealer on the hole so i dont think it will leak

ehhh idk worth a try if it wer me id get the broken part out n new bolt butt do what u want to do.

yea i might , but were you losing alot of oil form the whole and where on the cover was the bolt you broke?

you broke one in the middle of the head by were the cam is? i wouldnt run it like that i would get the bolt removed and replaced. if you have a tube of rtv you mine as well get it replaced and make a new gasket.

Agree. If it were one of the ones in the front or rear perimiter, there usually ok. But the ones in the center are holding the rocker arm assembly in place and absorbing that force. I wouldn't run it without one there.

They usually aren't too hard to get out. Not much tension there yet. Great motor.. sucky bolts. Sometimes I think plastic bolts would be stronger than the factory bolts.. lol. I've had the heads of those twist off at 4 ft-lbs.. lol.
