Well, what are you going to ride for? Mx? Trails? What type of quad are you looking for? Sport? Utility? Price range? Experience?

not to be a dick. but if I remember the 03s where the worst years for kfx/ltz's. There frames cracked like twigs

i kno my frame was really weak
but i had other problems with it. for some reasom my tranny went and i went to a shop to get it fixed and they say it would be $700 just to split the case. and he said altogether it would probaly range from $1000-$1400. when my quads only worth 2200 if i trade it in. and last month i had the hole entire tope end redone so that was about 1000. and my front shocks hav been getting weeker and bearings hav been going in it and by the time im done it wouuld not be worth it so im justing trading it in as is and looking to buy a 450. but im not sue whayt one to get.
i had my eye on either the kfx450 or the ltr450

Yami or Suzuki.

01-22-2008, 05:24 PM
I have 2 450R's and never had a problem with any

kfx400rider03
01-22-2008, 05:46 PM
i like the 450r's but i want the kawi or suzuki and i heard the new 450r's arent as good as the older ones. and the 2008 ltr is suppose to have more low en and mid end power

My 450ER has around 300 hours and still runs strong, never had to touch the engine other than adjusting the valves. I did put a new piston and rings in but it wasn't necessary.

Sounds like you've already made up your mind..

To get your facts straight, the new 450R's only aren't as "good" as the older ones because apparently they handle differently. But I know mine handles like it's on rails.

If you ride trials, remember that the LTR is A LOT wider than your KFX.

My vote still goes towards either the 450R or YFZ.

I got a buddy that has the 2008 Suzuki LTR450 Limited Edition and it is so responsive and fast that its unbelievable. The F.I. is amazing makes is so smooth and he also put the cherry bomb on it and it made a night and day difference

kfx400rider03
01-22-2008, 06:33 PM
yea i heard the cherry bomb adds alot of power to them.
i wanted the ltr cause i wanted to start racing but i will still ride trails. and i wanted the kfx450 cause its still a good trail quad and a good racer.

i was kinda in the same boat as you, i had a warrior and wanted more power and overall just a new bike but also didn't want something that needed to be rebuilt or something that couldn't be taken off the track. well i bit the bullet and got a 05 450r just because of the deal i got. i got it used and haven't had a problem with it and i absolutely love it. I think its the best decision Ive made regarding quads yet. again i mainly ride trails and i think its perfect. it does take a little getting use to with the clutching and stuff in tight rocky areas but that's just time on the machine.

overall when it comes to reliability i think it comes down to the owner and how well you take care of it. if i was to skip oil changes, not clean the air filter, not lube the chain and other regularly maintenance after i beat the s**t out of it id probably have a problem. like someone else said the ltr is quite wide so you might find yourself getting hung up a bit in narrow trails so my choice would be a Honda or Yami. good luck with whatever decision you make. :macho

what about the kfx450???

I'd recommend the LTR450 IMO they both hold up well and have good power out of the box and when you uncork them they gain lots of power. I'd choose the LTR for quality and the race ready factor its already wider stock and EFI is smooth.

Honestly you're good with any of the 450's.

Sit on a couple, find out which one feels the best.

i would get the ltr they are the best for mx and pretty good for trails

and the kfx vibrates really bad, and the efi is not as good as the ltr but there a ok quad

thats my opinion

i dont care about the kfx400 frames. kno they r weak.

what i want is some pros and cons about the ltr450.

i really havent heard much bad about the 08 LTR the only problem my buddy had was the chain kept loosening up every time we would ride but with time it quit happening. HE hasn't been able to do near as much trail riding because of the width but every where else it is outstanding

you should look into a Honda 450r. Perfect for what youll be doing.

kfx400rider03

i would get the 450r but this summer i want to start racing. so if i buy the 450r i would have to buy a-arms and crap. by the way most of the trails around here are wide. besides the little dirtbike trails that go to the same spot the wide trails go.

why couldn't you race a 450r stock?

I do love the LTR's though:D

glwitmer
01-23-2008, 05:39 PM
im sure you could race a 450r stock but it just seems more practical to get a quad that already has the suspension mods on it from the factory IMO. but im not doggin the 450r

kfx400rider03
01-23-2008, 06:38 PM
just like what gwitmer said.
i like the 450r
but i like the race set up the ltr comes with stock.
and again the trails i ride r pretty wide. my buddy on his quadzilla fits threw them easy

Pick a color, they are all the same!

Ride them all n see which one u like best. I personally fit perfect on the 450r n cant stand any of the other ones. But other peopl are the same way about different brands.

id say any of the 450s besides the 450r are good. if you get an ltr you wont regret it
