What is the difference in the 04/05 pistons compared to the 06/07 pistons? I put a new 14:1 baldwin piston in my 06 this past weekend and it was burnin oil like crazy so we tore it all down again and measured the piston. Its diameter was smaller than the last piston I had in there. So did baldwin screw up and accidently send me the wrong piston or what?

the 04-05 pistons are 94mm bore, and the 06 and up are 96mm bore. and the 06 and up is 12:1 compression from the factory.

what did the baldwin piston measure at????

94mm.... at least it was a simple mistake. I'll have to call baldwin tomorrow.

A 2mm undersized piston was installed? That's wild. I'm a little surprised it would even run but I guess the rings sprung out just enough to build a little compression?

Talk about piston slap. :eek2:

The cylinder walls were undamaged because as soon as it fired it just started pouring oil out so we immediatley shut her down.

Dont remember hearing the piston slap but im sure it did.

we put the 13.5:1 back in for the time it will take with shipping for the new piston. the old one actually looked fine so I 'll have my 450 back for this weekends race.
