I'm used to the 400ex where transmission and engine oil is the same, and I have no idea where the bolts are on the 450r, how often to change the oil in both transmission and regular or what fluid to run for the transmission/engine because the guy before me ran semi-synthetic but says I can used regular 10w-40 again without a problem. thanks.

I always use Honda GN4 10w-40 which I get at the local honda dealer.

I change both my engine and transmission oil after every ride, but alot of people do it every 10hours

Transmission and engine same oil? Where are the screws and are there more then 1 screws for each one like on the 400ex or no?

I run GN-4 in both my transmission, and crankcase. You will have a drain bolt on the bottom of your motor for your crankcase, and another bolt on the sprocket side of the motor by the shifter shaft for your transmission. I usually change both sides every race. Some people wait and change their transmission once every 2 times they change the crankcase.

I am running Honda HP trans fluid red bottle and for the engine i am running Honda HP4 10-40 gold bottle, change before every race usual ride time 2 to 3hrs between oil changes.

I think I'll just run gn-4 10w-40 in both my transmission and crankcase just cause thats easier for me I'm going to practice mx tracks this year and maybe do some harescrambles and some trail riding so I've got a pretty good idea when I'm going to change the fluids. Thanks for the input and I'm going to change transmission and crankcase same time always.

Harescramble:every 3-5 hours
MX:Every 3-5 hours
Trails:Every 10-12 hours
(does that look good?)

These engines are efficient but you can never go wrong changing the oil to much it's cheap insurance, better to change the oil to much than tear apart the bottom end.

i used GN4 in both sides for 2 years of some heavy riding. changed it mostly after every ride but sometimes let it go every 2. after my rebuild i switched over to maxima oils and i'm changing it every 3-4 rides, but the rides are alot shorter now :(
