Well i finaly bought my 400ex yesterday. I sold the little 250ex and took everyones opinioins and just bought the bad*****. its a 2001 and has the stuff in my sig. but i want to make sure so i have some questions. The oil dosent go in the way 250's or 300's go, they go in that other thing no on the engine...and it drains from the bottom like 250s right???

the oil goes in the tank in front of the motor when draining you drain the bottom of the tanks and there is a bolt like under the shifter on the bottom that is for the crankcase drain

Wait, so you drain it from the holder in front of the engine, but you also have to drain the crank case? what is that

optikid was talking about the Tranny! The resoir is the "Thing" infront of the engine. It has a drain under it, and there is a Tranny drain on the under side, close to the gear shifter. To fill the oil, if your on the left side of your quad you see the resoir and on the top of it is a screw on cap, it says oil on it. You want to put 10w 50 in it. Someone can confirm this? :) Hope that helped you.

it's the same as your old 250, you DRAIN from the bottom, and you FILL AND CHECK from the "little thing in the front of the motor, same as your 250 but the "little thing" is in the front instead of on the side...............
