the reason i ask is ive been reading on here about lightening a 400 flywheel for more torque and didnt want to screw up my only flywheel. does anyone have any input or experience with this? ive got an offer of 30$ shipped and wanna know if its worth it

i got one that has the starter bearing off of it. i was gonna attempt to lighten it myself cause i have access to a lathe, but never got around to it. ill take 20 shipped to get rid of it.

my understanding is that it would have less torque, but it would rev quicker, and in many cases, actually hurt the everyday ridability.

this is true, a lighter flywheel will rev faster, but have less torque. and a heavier one will have more torque and smooth the power out. i had a few flywheels for my old YZ125 when i raced bikes. a lighter one for short tracks, and a heavier one for slick surfaces like mud or really loose dirt.

to me you usually put on a heaver flywheel. helps for stalling and easier starting. but that's the 2 strokes. i don't think imo its not worth it to put a lighted one on a ex. but for 30 shipped i would try it out. :chinese:
