Hello everyone. I've got this 1999 warrior collecting dust and a bunch of free time in front of me. In the next couple weeks it is getting completely torn down and rebuilt. The thing is, I really dont want to put money into this motor. What motors do you guys think i should look into? I've researched this a lot and have noticed that the yz426, and yz400 get brought up . The common problem involves the swingarm pivot position being so high. Is there some way to fabricate around this issue? I've seen cbr 600 motors in quads before so i'd imagine it can be done. Has anyone out there done this or know of someone who did? Any help with this is appreciated fellas.

I've seen pics and vids of a warrior with a 600 or 900 crotch rocket motor in it but I dont remember where its at. I havent heard about to many hybrids from warrior chassis. There is a company that sells a 446 kit for warriors I believe.

Yea i looked into the 446 kit and it costs around 1500 when its all said and done. I think the best thing to do is try to slap a yz426 in there. It probably has twice as much horse power and weighs about 40 pounds lighter than the 110 pound warrior motor.

true the 426 motor is lighter and you will also have the added benifit of the liquid cooled with the 426

It can be done but is it worth the trouble? The biggest problem would be where the swingarm bolts to the frame on the warrior,if the rear mount is used on the 426,the motor would be too high in the chassis and it would need to be tilted forward drastically to clear the upper frame rails.Or the swingarm pivots could be lowered which would entail a lot of work either way,but it can be done though:)
