Just put a AMR coil on my 400 and its amazing. Def. more lowend than before. You know that hesitation that you get when you go from idle to wide open, its gone! Just wanted to give anyone the heads up that has this problem, the AMR coil solved it for me.

You can get it from amrracing.com for about $53, or from ebay under "400ex coil" for about $67.

You talked me into it, Drew. I have the Coil and a Stage 3 AMR Rev Box on order.

I dunno how well their cdi works, but im very happy with the coil. I jetted the thing perfect but still always had that little hesitation, but not anymore. I think you will be very happy with it hornetgod13.

Any idea how this compares to the MSD coil? I spoke with MSD about their coil and they tell me an upgraded coil is worthless unless without an improved cdi (more specifically the one they offer). Whether it was a sales pitch to get their entire kit or not i dont know. MSD has had their coil out for a while but i never heard anything about it.

The MSD coil is better, but also cost around $500-$600. Their coil and cdi is pretty much in the same little box. Theirs also has different rev limits, a line limiter (you can have a different rev limit for take off), and different timing curves to choose from. The main thing the AMR coil does is increase spark energy to help burn the fuel better. I would get an MSD if I could afford it, but for $53 the AMR was worth it to me.

The MSD coil is available seperatly and that is what i was considering getting but i was turned off by what their tech had told me. What are you thoughts on the MSD coil only.

Im not sure about the MSD coil only. I didnt know you could buy just the coil. I was told by someone you couldnt buy it separate, but they werent from MSD. Maybe their coil wont really do much unless you get their cdi.

MAybe ill just go with the AMR. I have always had good experiences with MSD but it seems we are getting a lot of different info on the their atv products.

One final question, was it a direct swap. AMR show a generic picture for all its applications. Does it use the stock plug wire, wire connections and mounts?

all i had to do with mine was put my spark plug boot on and connect everything and go. maybe took a couple of minutes.

Like repoman said, put the stock boot on, bolt it up and go
