Here's the deal, I have a set of 23" fronts coming and I've decided to go a little bigger in the rear too but I've never ran anything but 20s. I'm leaning towards 21s but I'm open to 22s too. I quit riding MX in any serious fashion about 7 years ago so this setup will be mainly geared for woods/scramble runs. I like a light feeling rear tire, will the 22 be a lot heavier then a 21? Will the 21 feel a lot heavier then the 20s I normally use?

Also I've narrowed my tire choices down to Kenda Knarly XC's and ITP GNCC Holeshots. Which tire will be the best at sliding and not have too much traction? I'm guessing the Knarlys...... IDK. I really like the stock 400ex tires but I do want a tougher tire with a tad more bite.

Any insight is appreciated.
Thanks

A 21 is huge in back, I'm running a 20/11/9 I RAZR and they are huge compared to the stock tires, as far as weight i really don't feel a difference the only thing i feel is tire roll compared to my MX tire but that is expected.

Thanks for the quick responce. You know I won these Razr2's off ebay and like an idiot I assumed they were 22s from what they looked like. I didn't even know they made them in 23s! The cool thing is they're mounted on some ITP Baja wheels and that's what I really wanted anyway.

What do you think of your iRazrs? These were my top pick but they don't offer them in 21s. How tall do your 20s measure from the ground up..... if you don't mind.

I dont have them mounted right now but i can post a pic when i get home on my computer, I had them on my Hipers but started racing alot more MX so i dismounted them, really the 6ply 20in tires out there are huge, i can get you a unmounted size and post a pic later, I love my I-RAZR's alot of peolple talk that they wear fast but i'm running Cali desert with them and they are far from wearing or showing alot of wear so i don't know i guess people think you pay big $ for tires and they should last forever.

Haha, now you got me thinking about sticking with the 20" iRazrs again. I'd really appreciate the pic and measurement. Thanks

Thanks for the help, I went and ordered the 21" Kenda Knarly XC's. I just couldn't get myself to go to 22's.

BTW, nice ride. Is that hump in the seat a good thing or does it get in the way at all?

Those Kendas you ordered will actually measure out to about a 20" size.

Well I got them in Friday. They are 1.5" taller then the stock tires and measure 20.75". I'd say that's pretty close to 21". I just took a short ride with them yesterday and I really liked them. With the new rear wheels I gained about 1.5" in width. I like that too.
