As many of us are getting ready for the 2003 season, building or redoing our quads, searching for the ultimate sponsorship as well as getting out of shape. “In my case I was already there”
I figured I would share some related links/info in the net to keep you pumped up, and hopefully give you hindsight on what you should be training on.
Case in point, I am 40lbs over weight based on a V02 test recently taken, my cardiovascular endurance was off by almost 65%. Results from the test indicated with short muscular stature from lifting too many weights, my muscle tissue was bursting 100% of energy over a short period of time, causing extreme cramping and severe arm pump and fatigue.
One example of what I was doing wrong. I would load up with Creatine prior to a race. “Bad idea”. This causes your muscle to pump up, and even worse when you’re hydrated. Maybe you have to be a tall skinny arse for this sport rather than a short fat guy.
To help remedy my severe arm pump. I go in for surgery Friday morning to remove the upper/lower muscle tissue lining on my forearms, caused from too much weight lifting. Expected recovery time is 3 weeks. I also gave up donuts/beer/pop and all sugar. With consuming about 6 small meals a day mostly protein. About 20 lbs of chicken a week. Wait till I start laying eggs. So far I have dropped about 12 lbs of the 40.
Instead of me babbling on. Here is some web-sites that I found to be informative. Even though most pertain to moto-cross rather than XC. Primarily the same motor functions. Let me know if you guys found these helpful.
