I bought a new chain and I'm going to put on. I need to take out some links though and don't know how. Do you have to grind off the pins or is there another way? I'm putting the quad back together this weekend and would appreciate a quick answer. Thanks!

Grinding is one way but there are tools available to do the job.

Here's one version...

I just use my 4" grinder to grind off the head of the pins. Then use a center punch to push the pin out of the plate.
If you already have a grinder, it is much cheaper than buying a special tool.
If you don't have a grinder, then decide which you would use more often and buy that one.

the chain tool will fit in your toolbox for emergency repairs, the grinder probably not.

A dremmel with a cutoff wheel works good also.

i have used all of the above mentioned methods but have also used a mtal file if u dont have any other way. i can file off the pins and have the chain installed in under 10 minutes.
