I finally did it! I made my full E-series into a shorty! And WOW the power difference! It added by SOTP feel, a very noticeable top-end gain. You will also be stunned to know it's sound level DID NOT get louder! I did all the cutting, splicing and welding myself! It's sweet! Here is the before and after pics:

Yeah thanks guys it was hard because the part I cut and re-welded is the taper from the reverse cone down to the core inside the exhaust to make it shorter. But it was deff worth it. Fabbing your own stuff is bomb. Party on!

Why did it take so long? I would think you take the muffler off, 10 mins. Take apart muffler, 10 mins.. Cut it down, 10 mins. Repack muffler, 10 mins.. Put muffler back together, you guessed, 10 mins.. Put back on bike, 10mins.. Did I miss something? I'm not being a wise guy or making fun of you, just wondering.

No I don't sorry. The reason for taking so long is that I didn't want to rush it. Whenever I rush things they seem to get screwed up or I wreck something. But I took my time to do it right so it last. ;)

Well I drag raced my dads HRC450R before I did this and lost by a quad & 1/2 so I'm going to (when it warms up lol), drag him again and see if I narrowed the gapp any. Wish me luck!!

how much welding could there have been? Looks like you cut off 4-5 inches or whatever and riveted it back on. I have a e series and that looks like a sweet mod.

I cut the core shorter but I had to weld the reducer back on to the core so it would work.

Hey, could I ask you a question? I just made mine a shoty. What a fun project! (If you want I'll post picture's once I am 100% complete.)

Well, my question is I cut mine even shorter thans yours, maybe 1/2, 2/3 inch from the bracket. Does, will that make a difference?

By the way, mine is a slip-on.

Thank you!
