Anyone have one of these? I am thinking about getting the engine skid. To me it should be about as good as a metal one. Any thoughts?

Depends on the type of riding you do.
Would be good for a lightweight glide plate.

Not nearly as good for rock/log/boulder protection.

I'm thinking about trying out the Tag polly skid plate.
Looks a little more solid then the Maier one.

I have a brand new PRM skid but it wouldn't mount up with my Rath nerf bars unless the skid plate was installed first (pita)
So I goda sell that and try the Tag one.

I use Tag's skidplate on my LTR and for mx it's great. On low spots or ruts it doesn't hang up as easy. It's pretty thick but is half the weight of a aluminum one.

We use the maier one and it works well we aren't riding a lot of rocks all the time but a couple of our xc races have some rock sections with big boulders and sharp rocks. This will be the 3rd season for the wifes maier skid.

What does the mounting look like on the tag?

I've been calling and emailing them but they never pick up or respond.

I used one for three or four seasons racing XC, it held up good even at really rocky races. One thing I like about it is it tends to slid over the rocks rather than dig in like a metal one.
