I am new at this site and i have an 07 trx 450er with a trinity full ext., a k&n air filter, a plenum, procom cdi box, jet kit, and a hotter plug. my buddy has a suzuki 450 with a full yoshi, a programmer , 1 tooth lower front sprocket, and a cherry bomb. most of the time, if i dont stand it up i get hem all the way to 5th then he comes back and gets me by about 1 length. what can i do to get him all the time start to finish? i thought about a stage 2 cam and port the head. i just dont want to lose any reliability.

Since nobody wants your 07 faster than your buddies you ought to just come out to winston salem and ride with a couple of us 450rs. We'll get it running faster than your friends ltr.http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee11/mega-andy/DSCF0271.jpg

You are going to need a cam for sure....the cam is the weak link on a 450R....HC2,HRC are good choices.

Stage 2 cam and your 450 will walk all over that ltr..... you have alot of other really good supporting mods. Put a cam in that B*tch and have a blast.

look into a hrc kit. that will really open that thing up.

try dropping your front sprocket 1 tooth as well. with what you have now the only reason he is beating you is cause he gets to top speed faster than you.

thanks for the help so if i do the stage 2 hc i need to port the head to right and do you pollish the head like you would a car because the man that does my motor work said he would do both for $150. and comin up to winston sounds good. and thats one nice bike. we should that.

You do not have to port/polish the head in order to run a cam. It will make a lot more power, but just adding a cam will be a big difference in itself.

He said he has a hard time keeping the front end down already...this will just make it worse!! But if you can launch it right this will definetly help getting up to speed faster!! Where are you guys riding up in Winston Salem? I am a couple hours south of you. We have been going to Carolina Adventure World. Its between Charlotte and Columbia SC!! Come ride with us!!

Pretty sure if you go DOWN one tooth on the front, you'll gear it lower taking away from top speed and adding to acceleration.

Get the Hot cam, or HRC.

You may see subtle gains from a port/polish but in my opinion since you don't have to remove your head for a simple cam install and you are not stroked, big bore,+size valves,or HC piston I would hold off for now.
I still say the HC stage 2 or HRC would be better choices.
