I drilled a couple holes in my stock hood in the "V" lipped area if you are sitting on the quad. They are protected there and look clean. For the key, I drilled a hole in the plastic right above the fender on either the left or right side. If you drill the hole the right size, it looks stock. There are alot of people that just ziptie the key under the hood somewhere that is accessible.

Most people just zip-tie the key under the hood and leave it in the "on" position. I put the temp light in the left fender where you can still see it, just in case.

what I did was used a bracket from maier that came with some 300ex fenders and drilled one of the mounting holes out big enough for the oil light and then mounted to the frame right next to the steering stem.. there is already a hole there so no drilling required.. I am sure Maier sells these seperately or one can be made real similar to it if you wanted.. to me I think it looks good and hides everything, but you can still see the oil light and get to the key easily so you dont have to leave the key in it.. this way you dont have to drill into the plastics or anything and makes for a clean look.
