hi guys.. time to get a new set of front tires.. i usually run holeshot xcrs.. and i'm up in the air to get a set of 22s or 21s..
i have 20's in the back. i have 22s now and i know if i drop to 21s it will make it handle quicker and steer better, but im not sure if my ride quality will suffer to much..

i have a 03 400ex with elka rezzies all the way around, steering stabilizer, and +2/+1 a arms...

whats everyones thoughts?
thanks.

I'm running 21" up front and 20" in the rear. I like it because it sits a little but lower in the front than something with 22" tires.

first, nice user name haha. anyway, when i got my 400 it had 21's on it and it did handle quite a bit differently. it seemed to "float" less with the 21's on it than with the current 22's. that could also be a result of the actual brand of tire being used. the handling was better, and it didnt want to wheelie everywhere either. i got 22's for a little added ground clearance and they did soften the ride of quite a bit. with your setup i would get 21's and never look back.

Both of your machines will actually handle better with big tires up front. I run 23's up front and 20's in back, sure handles the turns better than if I had 21's in front.

have you ever ran 21's? the 21's could cause it to push a little bit more than 22's, but not enough to be noticeable. the stability of them makes up for it. unless you're running in the desert, i couldnt see the point in running 23's.

Yes I've tried about every size tire they make and this is what I found. 19" fronts push way too much & make for a very rough ride. 21" are better in the ride dept. but still bad pushing in the turns. 22's are a good ballance but the sidewall just isn't tall enough for next to perfect stability. I run a 6ply 23" front so the ride quality is great, still turns like on rails & since it's a 6 ply the tire stiff enough not to "roll" in hard cornering.

I just won some Razr 2's on eBay last night and somehow missed that they were 23's. Do you think they will make good woods/scramble tires? I was thinking I'd have to sell them. I've never tried a tire that big on a sport machine.

21s or 22s. 23s are designed for the new 21 inch rears or 22 inch rears. I've had 21s and 22s, and tend to like the 21s better.

I've been running the 20" fronts with the 19" rears. its a great all around combo if you do trails and mx
