PS-4 is 0-50 motor/tranny oil, still to much at $9.00 qt. . All of you who run other types, and the Fuji is still running good. How long have you been using them in hours. Looking for a good replacement. For the PS-4. Thanks

Run the same here in. Good enough for Factory team KTM bikes, good enough for me.

Hey thanks Evasiveone,

If your fleet is running good it's good enough for me. I know you can get oil filters at Walmart, not sure about the quaitly of Fram for the dirt?

Thanks again

HAVE YOU EVER RUN THE 15W40 ROTELLA? I JUST BOUGHT A GALLON ($10.00 WALMART) AND GOING TO SERVICE MY QUAD THIS SAT. I'VE READ THE DEBATES ON KTM TALK AND THERE IS NO CLEAR WINNER. THE ONLY REASON I'M TRYING THE DINO OIL IS ONE OWNER STATED IT QUIETED THE CLUTCH SOMEWHAT. I WAS RUNNING MOTOREX, BUT @ 17.00 PER QUART I THINK THATS ROBBERY.

I always ran Ps 4 in my Predator. How much are you actually saving by running cheaper oil? Your supposed to change oil every 10 hours of ride time. So most people will only change oil 3-4 times per year. Put an hour meter on your machine youll be amazed at how little you actually ride.

As for my 525 I do use the Rotella 5-40 synthetic. I have read KTM talk a bunch and it seems to be the best for the KTm motors.

lol.....I change mine probably every 20 hours, as I think it should be every 10 hours if rode hard(like racing).

And, I know the whole Nicholas cycle crew ran bel-ray....and I have been too, no problems yet!

You just need to make sure you have oil for wet clutches.....and also remember that your tranny oil is the same as the engine.....so keep an eye on it.

I was told to change it, when it turns from brown(dark) to black.....but I run it black a little....

I switched to Royal Purple synthetic oil. The Max-Cycle 20w50. ATV OIL $12.04 a qt. This stuff lowered my engine temp 20 + deg. over PS-4. It also improved the feal of the predators Transmission, making for smother shifting. As for filters you can get oil filters at NAPA under there power sports filter line. P/N PS4944. $6.59. Made by wix, and the qualty is much better than Polaris filter.

I DRAIN AND FILL OIL ONLY AFTER EVERY RIDE. CHANGE FILTER, CLEAN SCREENS, AND CHANGE OIL EVERY OTHER RIDE. MIGHT BE A LITTLE OFTEN, BUT I HAVE YET TO GERNADE ANY ENGINE I'VE OWNED(INCLUDING MOWERS, CARS, TRUCKS--CHEVELLE EXCLUDED)

Yes its a diesel blend ( actually 15w40). I found out guys have been using it for years in KTM dirtbikes. I think the factory race team even uses rotella synthetic.

Go to KTM.talk and they have a whole section about oil.

Has anyone used the PS4 plus. It is 2w-50, and my owners manual says use just that, And definitely No Ps4 or 10w-40. Anyone know the scoop on this?

Stay away from PS-4. I ran it in my pred for two years....then switched to Bel-ray, and the shifting became much easier and smoother. It also allowed me to wait a little longer between changes, as it doesn't seem to blacken near as fast.

I believe the plus took the place of the standard PS4. It is recomended by P.I. in the 525, 450, and 500 now. I think PS4 is no longer in production. PS4 and plus is all I have ever used.

On the Rotella subject, you can't but a better diesel oil per the Cummins engineering folks. Not sure in the quad though?
