OK we were riding at Carolina Adventure World this weekend (awsome new place if you're anywhere near South Carolina) and my 450er wants to die everytime there is a load on it with lower RPM's. For example: while climbing some steep hills if you let off the throttle to dodge a rock or some tree roots and nail the throttle again it wants to die. This sucks big-time. Same thing if you got hung up on the swingarm skid and started to rock it back and forth, when the tires caught if would kill the bike. Its fine if you can keep it reved up but its hard to climb some hills with the bike pegged out! Anyone have any ideas?

sounds like jetting or valve adjustment to me. probly something more along the lines of fuel though. or check fuel filter (not sure where it is on 07, either gas tank, petcock or in carb at main fuel line into carb) and make sure you aint clogged.

sounds a bit like my question but wanted to search forums b4 posting again. my bro has 07 also and we have a track and when he goes over the jumps just say to warm up when he hits the throttle it like has a dead spot and damn near wants to throw u over. thought it would be jetting which can be fixed with a carb clean and new jets if im right

it sounds to me u need to keep her pinned all the time, 24-7 while riding;)

Its most likely jetting. Try a #55 leak jet if u aren't already using 1 close to that size.

The stock #75 leak jet can cause bogging when u stab the throttle.

I got the part #'s for the leak jets yesterday. When I went to the Honda dealer they didnt even know what a leak jet was!! When they found the info in their computer it says the 08's are using a 58 leak jet now, so maybe Honda has been reading this forum!!!

All the CRFs have been using around #50 leak jets for years in their FCR carbs. Even before the TRX's came out.
Don't know why they switched it for the quads. Maybe because the quads are so corked up stock compared to the dirt bikes stock..

this might be a dumb question but what exactly is a leak jet? my 07 dies every once in awhile as well....it has an hrc kit in it and i wasnt sure if it would be the jetting or something else

For trail riding I think CAW is awsome!! We used to go to TNT Motorsports and I thought that was a cool place to ride until we went to CAW. I think TNT still has better tracks, but CAW has over 100 miles of perfectly marked and rated trails, I love it.

i have been to tnt 1 time it was ok, but the trails at caw rock ,and there making a pro mx track so it only gets better from there haha and putting in sprinklers.

I dont know if we were supposed to but............a couple of us rode the TT track while we were there! It was my first time on a flat track like that. Going around it flat out in 4th gear was unreal!! Yeah their trails are great as long as you can keep the 4x4's with the big aggressive tires off them. Your not supposed to have them up there but we saw packs of guys using them and you could tell which trails they had been on. There was some spots that were so rutted up we had to go in the woods and go around. Now we just need some decent weather on the weekends to go again!!

Turn the idle up a little bit. Helps a ton. One of everyones first complaints with a new 450.

Its a little jet that is screwed into the bottom of the float bowel that controls the fuel flow to the accelerator pump.
The stock #70 leak jet is too small for a modded bike and causes a lean bog when u stab the throttle fast.
The #50 will help illuminate any bogging when u stab the throttle and give u better throttle response in general.

I don't think the 07 HRC kit comes with a leak jet.
So it might still have the stock leak.

What is ur bike doing?
Above u said it dies once in a while but didn't say when.
When u stab the throttle? When its idleing? When u come to a stop?

The leak jet is easy to change IMO.

You have to the float bowel from the carb. (You need to know how to do this already :P )
And the leak jet looks like a small slotted screw, screwed into the inside bottom of the float bowel.

Thats the same thing mine is doing. I am going to change the leak jet and see if that helps.

#55

Not sure if it'll fix the problem u guys are having but it will be an improvement no matter what. So theres no reason not to do it.
