Just released about 3 weeks ago. 5.5 gallons! It actually carries the extra fuel in the side panels. I have a white one on the way. Check it out @ clarkemfg.com. It's over a gallon larger than the IMS and looks 10 times better.

prob. not, it sais on the site that it may not work with aftermarket plastic. Ill stick with my IMS. Plus i think the IMS natural looks better :blah

The website says that it may not work with aftermarket plastics. I like the looks of it, and their factory is just 20 minutes from my house. I think I may go down their in the next few weeks and take a look at the tanks in person before I make a purchase. I'm not all that sure about replacing the side panels with the gas tank. It looks good, but I just wonder what it looks like when it's not on the bike. (if it's flimsy or built well). $185 is alot to spend if it's going to warp, and look bad after riding hard. I'll be interested to find out how you like yours, and see a pic. It would be easy to change the appearance of our quads with this new tank. They come in a ton of colors (according to their order form).

I'd love to see the thing in person. I love the fact that it doesn't stick up really far like the IMS. That would solve my problem of getting full bark busters on as well as a Scotts sterring damper (maybe).

My biggest concern would be that the sides would scratch (just like the black pieces do now) and you would not have a cheap replacement for it (would have to get another tank) when it gets all beat up.

Joe

Not exactly sure where it's at, but they say they are in Mulino, so I figure I'll get their address from the website, and plug it into mapquest.

It would be nice to ride all day in the dunes without having to refuel all the time. The weight of the extra gas would mean that I'd have to lose some weight to make up the difference (like dropping 10 or more pounds would kill me).

No they don't. They do make one that is around stock size.

Let me know when you plan on going, maybe we can hook up and i'll take you up to the track we made at my friends dad's house. It is up Sawtell road, about 45 minutes from O.C.

Joe, I'll email them tomorrow and see if they even let people tour the factory. I'd like to see that track (and ride on it). I've ridden up on Sawtell Road a few times when there is snow up there. Mark (the guy we rode with that had the Raptor) lives in Oregon City too, and I'm sure he'd be up for trying that out. I'll let you know as soon as I find out something from Clarke Mfg.

I was thinking about getting one, but the added weight of another 3 gallons of gas (about 20 to 24 pounds) just isn't worth it to me. I'm always looking for weighs to take weight off my quad, not add more weight to it.

It is a sweet tank, and for desert racing, and trail riding it may be the way to go, but for riding the dunes, I think that the extra weight would hurt you for climbing the big hills. And, sure you wouldn't have to re-fill your tank all day, but your riding buddies would, so no matter what, you'll be heading back to the truck to get gas for your friends, so why not save $200 (after shipping) and get some other toy for your quad?? I dunno. I've been thinking about this too much lately. Boss gave me a $500 bonus this month, and it's all going to the quad. Gotta spend it wisely, because 500 bucks goes fast.

i dont know, i got a 4 gallon one and the weight really didnt effect me. i think 5.5 gallons is overkill though. I can run a 2 hour national balls out and still have about 1/2 to full gallon left.

Them dunes in Oregon must be the size of my cat's litter box. As it is now, I can't make it to Mexico and back from Glamis without bummin' gas from somebody at Gordon's Well / Buttercup. And flat out, that IMS tank is to ugly to put on my quad. Better to be able to ride all day than to worry about an extra 10 pounds when considering which aftermarket tank to go with. I'll post pix when I get it mounted. -RT

I am seriously thinking about one, but a hydro clutch is next...maybe this summer.

IT WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE THE TANK AND ONLY CARRY 2-3 GALLONS OF GAS UNTIL YOU NEED MORE FOR A DIFFERENT RIDE, THEN YOU HAVE THE OPTION AVAILABLE. (SORRY BOUT CAP LOCK)

I was wondering.

There is gas in the side panels, right. The fuel pickup is in the side, right. And it sticks up about two inches from where the petcock is. So. . . How does the pickup get the gas that is below where the gas petcock is? Or how about the other side?

Just curious????
