I wanted to get some inut. I am going big bore , and wanted to hear your experiences.

I am really leaning toward the FST500 kit. If I`m going to swap out the carb and crank , I might as well go 500.
But I wanted to hear what everybody has and make up my mind then!

i wouldent. for the money it would cost to do all that you could build a sweet as hybrid thatl smoke any 400ex. maybe one like mine... lol

just under 2k to convert mine and im sure a built 400ex motor and parts is gona cost around that aswell, if not more.

or just buy a 450.

I'm running a 440 stroker and couldn't be happier. Lightly modded 450 power without any sacrifice in reliability.:macho

I think a 440 is the best way to go. If you go 500 you really have to worry about overheating and is expensive to run race gas in it as well. I have a 440 Big bore kit (not a stroker) and make 42.49hp@9200rpm. It's so reliable you could hold it wide open in 1st gear for 500ft and not grenade the engine, + it stays cool & you can run pump (92 octane) gas on a 11:1 piston and still be safe. Just my experience. :)

OK , guys one reply has the DR440 stroker in his sig , so I know which kit he has. How about the rest of you? I`m about a week from ordering mine , I just need to make up my mind, Overheating will mot be a factor , I will just be racing this quad flat track and tt. The flat track will be over 55 mph pretty muck the whole time. And I got the whole overheating problem figured out anyway. It`s not even an issue for me.

I can`t go hybrid and stay within the rules , and I have my 250R for that class.

But which kit do you guys run? And while you are giving details , which carbs do you run with them?

In my 440 stroker I have a hot rods 4mm stroker crank, powroll 87mm stroker piston, stage 3 hot cam, and 39mm fcr.

:eek2:

A stock 450R will put you up in the high 30s in HP! If you could sell your 400EX and take the money you are going to be putting in to the motor, you could find a nice 450R.

Just my 2 pesos!

Chino..... I probably would not get $1500 out of my ex , I would not get much of a 450R for $3000 if I could even find one for that , then I would have to get it set-up to suit me.........not enough cash until next year! And for all I want it is cheaper to mod my 400ex. Just a couple of ponies and I got the guys that race 450`s flat track around here .

I will give FST a call on tuesday to get their details. 500 kit is only $800.......plus case boring , and a carb.

I can get 440`s 445`s and 460`s for about $300..( not strokers )..... but the best are strokers in my opinion. The stroker kits are a lot more I bet.

Strokers are a little more, but you will get more torque out of a stroker than a big bore.

Yes , I know , strokers are the way to go , along with cam and head work.

I already have aftermarket exhaust , and filter.
