This run was done with a 2008 Kawasaki KFX450R on our in house DynoJet Dyno. The machine had a Hetrick Racing Exhaust System, Hetrick Racing MX1 Camshaft Kit, Hetrick Racing National Porting, a High Flow Intake Set-Up, High Performance Fuel Controller and CP Racing Piston Kit.

Why the nasty dip/loss of power from 7300-8300 rpm? That would be a nice power curve with that dip filled in!

looks like a stalled port....

its not a stalled port..rich knows what hes doing...EFI is a little more tricky than u think..one stalled pulse width on that efi can cause the same thing..if it was a carb id agree..but def can happen with a efi controller...

I'm not being mean, but don't you think thats alittle low for a national quad. Last year Kaw was never even close to a holeshot in the pros and I know they had more than that.

do you guys know who this guy is? Rich hetrick was voted engine builder of the year.and mechanic of the year ,I think in 2004. Rich is one of the best in the busness.last year was the first year for kawi .look out this year,or get out of the way.rich will have the kawi running like a charm. :

Interesting. We had a similar issue years back known as the cannondale dip although not quite as pronounced as that one. We never really were able to get rid of it entirely with mapping alone . Changing the cam timing and valve overlap had a greater effect. It looks like you have a good start . Is that the first kfx to break 50hp?

Sorry I have not had time to post for a while here.

The quad that was shown has a generic pc on it not a PCIII or a Yosh P.I.M.
The problem is we cannot adjust or should I say fine tune the fuel control with custom mapping.
The reason I used it is because a bunch of the calls I recieved the customers all had that style sys,so I thought lets see what we can do with it.
To go further into that the same head with a PCIII and the programable ignition made 53.5 with no dip in the curve(with my custom map of course)

As far as not enough for a national we pulled a bunch of holeshots last year with 52 and 53 on Honda this is A and Pro-Am

With MR9 this same head with some map changes made almost 56 with a few other changes to the intake.

Stalled Port I dont think so,but it is good that some people know what things look like on a Dyno. But not being there would make me ask, not assume.

Like Frank said with injected quads they can be a bit harder than jetting a carb.
