I am going to look at a 250r that only has a bill of sale and he is unsure of the year. Is there anyway to tell by just looking at the quad?
Thanks
Doug

Well i can tell you the easy way to determine wether its a 86/87 or 88/89.
The 86/87 will have the vin#s on the left rear right where the rear shock canister mounts .
And the 88/89 has the vin#s right up front just under the nose of the bike and between where the upper part of the front shocks mount.
This is assuming that this is a stock frame and the vins havent been removed?
Like mentioned above take a pic when your there if your still unsure?.....Hope this helps a lil bit ..........Marc

also the rear motor mount will help to somewhat determine the year if its still a stock swinger on it, if it mounts in the swingarm then its an 86/87, if it doesnt then its a 88/89

I picked it up, he told me it was an '87. It will be a fun little project that needs some TLC. Thanks guys!
