thinking about a 400 ex

awesome site ! this is my first post of many (hopefully)!

I'm thinking about buying a 400ex this week and was wondering if there was any difference between the '02 and '03?

the dealer said he would give me $500 bucks off the '02 model .....should I get that or the '03?

anything I should know etc. would be helpful. I have been riding /racing dirtbikes for many years and have decided to switch over and give quads a rip!

no difference other than cosmetics.

the 03s have a red seat and the 02s have black. Otherwise the is no difference

hey 500 bucks is 500 buckjs you can get pipe and nerfs right of the bat go for 02'

Go for the new 02 400ex - there is no mechanical difference and the 400ex market is so low right now that you should be able to get a new 02 for $4,500 or under. Otherwise I would look for a nice used 400ex - you will find very nices ones for under $3,200. :)

people are sleling them left and right on here and wanting to sell them on here left and right Id buy a used one with a couple mo'ds cheaper and better

I think i would buy a good used one. Some people buy them and they sit cuz they don't have enough ttime to ride or can't afford it. So look for one thats all stock and the stock tires on it still. You can prob get a 99-01 for prob 3000-3500:)
