how do i go about removing axle bearings. i have two carriers with bearings that need pulled and dont know how to go about pulling them.

You pretty much have to use a punch and hammer to get them out. Just be careful not to score the inside of the carrier where the bearings set.

i dont realy have an oven i can use to do it in. so ill have to just try and pressem out

you could also evenly heat around the bearings with a torch. you dont need an oxy/acetalyn rig just a propane torch will do.

thats what i use. propane torch heat up evenly and tap the carrier on my bench they usually fall right out. If stubborn i have a big tapered socket that fits on the outter ring i used to tap it out.


Putting them in i usually put bearings in freezer for 30 mins or so. After they have been in there for a bit heat the carrier evenly again w/ propane and the bearings will drop right in, or require very little persuasion
