1st time adjusting valves need HELP

I will be adjusting the valves for the 1st time. Could you guys help please.

I need to know everything. I'm helping my riding buddy and we both have no idea.

What's the proper clearence, what are the marks i need to look for to line up the engine, valve specs and any other thing I would need to know to get this job done.

Honestly, I was gonna try and after reading what need to be done, I chose to have a pro do it. Theres alot to it, and I think if you never done it before dont try it on your own. bite the bullet and pay.

i brought mine to a local shop be prepared to spend about $200-$350 but in the end its worth it i notice alot more power and easier starting

My friend and I are not affraid of the job, but would like to know the steps to take. Its not about the $, its just that we enjoy all that come with riding these machines, and god know how many hours we spend working on them. My buddy is a auto mecanic and myself very handy.

Dont entend going to the dealer.

Get a manual it's well worth it. Are you just checking them or actually adjusting? When you check them make sure you have the cam lobes facing outward instead of point inward otherwise you will get a false reading.

Well gotta check them first, I hope they are fine but if the Dr is gonna operate, open heart surgery. I gotta pull of the gaz tank to put in the oversize tank and +2 stem,so wanna see whats up with the valves.

Checking the clearnce is easy but as far adjusting you be the judge once you read how to do it. You have to remove the cam to inser the shim. My dealer only charges $80-$100 to do it.
