have an 04 450 oem head and mtr. not alot of hrs on it . not raced ...have done valve guides and shims once. have a huge open airbox, k+n and the new edelbrock 40 mm carb. performance gains were noteworthy. have w/b carbon fiber exhaust w/ hrc kit. bike seems to suck oil from engine on deacceleration.... in like 3rd or 4 th. its the motor oil. anyone experience oil consimption with this carb? its either sucking out the breather tube and going in carb then burnin. is it cuz the flat slide cutting off so quickly? starts up fairly easy. no smoke at idle or rev in neutral.... plenty of compression. just have oil loss or james bond like smoke screen. u know theres less than a qt in there. is it the seals and guides again cuz the carb with it massive reverse vacume? rings? ahhhhhh!!!!

man ..... i figured it out. the crank case breather was attached to the edelbrock carb on the motor side and was actually sucking oil out of the crankcase. the carb has a hose barb on top but edelbrock instructions doesnt mention not using it and leaving the oem tube up in the plastic heat shield spot where it originaly was .. open to air . man what a head ache. but at least i dont have to break it down...for now........
