I must look stupid, starring at my 250ex hunting for the oil filter,
I have found the drain plug/ fill/dip stick, but wheres the filter, the owners manual says " use the correct filter or damage will occur" but know where in the book does it say where the filter is or what filter to buy!I have sen them forsale on ebay it looks like an internal type,I bought this bike last month used ( its an 2004) very clean bike and the oil looks good but I cant leave things well enuff alone, thought I might change it. Does it not have one? Thanks for the help

There is no oil filter on the 250. There is an "oil screen" somewhere on the bottom end of the engine, but you can pretty much leave that alone. All you have to do is make sure you change the oil enough.

I believe the screen is inside the case. Not a serviceable item without opening the case.
No filter = more frequent oil changes.
