400ex questions

I am trying to pick up a cheap quad to leave up at my cabin. I found a 200 400ex for a very fair price. My question is what problems did these have or things I should look for? It has a 440 kit in it, is that going to be full of troubles? Anything you know about them!

As long as it was built right, you shouldnt have any problems. A stock or moded 400 thats built right will be nearly bullet proof.

Well he said it was done professinally and has receipts for it.

most of the time your good, i have heard stories and from personal experience where the dealer or shop working on it must have been a bunch of monkey's becasue they either put something together wrong or made something else worse. The best thing to do is ride it around if he will let you.

Yeah ride it around and check it out. See if it smokes or makes a funny noise. You will hear a slight tick in the top end from the valve train but it shouldnt be super loud or anything.
