remove the choke is simple. not a huge gain but its a gain. 450r carb gives you some extra ponies. high compression piston and/or a cam.

For THE BEST reliablity and decent power I would up the compression to 11:1, put a Hot Cam in & port it. You'll be one of the fastest 400cc quads around.

I noticed your running a 16t front and 37t back sprockets. I run a 14t on the front and 38t on the back I have notice a huge torque difference in 1 through 3rd. Just a thought as it really depends on how and where you ride.

I personally find it hard to believe removing the choke does anything. At the very least, anything noticeable. I'd keep it for ease of starting...

I agree with what Racer165 said. Get a slip on (or full exhaust), a 11:1 pistion, and a hotcam stage 1 or 2 and you could have enough power to do anything you'd need.

there is a power difference because anytime i race a stock 400ex i win, if we switch quads they win. There is a difference, its not huge but theres 1 and its cheap.

For stock compression give the sparks timing key a shot.

I would definately change your gearing. Your geared for top speed and probably have no acceleration whatsoever. It won't actually give you more HP, but will change the power if you gear it lower and it will feel more powerful due to more acceleration. If you are riding only wide open flat roads, then your gearing should be fine, but I hope that's not all you ride because that would be boring.

I just pulled mine out today. I still have the original installation instructions, and fly wheel puller, and 6 degree key if somebody wants it. I'm going with a a hi-comp piston and it's not recommended. I paid $22.00 shipped. I'll sell it for $12.00 if anyones interested. PM if you want it.

your pm'd;)
