parting out a trx250x, how much could I get?

I have a 1987 250x that is in good shape. It runs perfect...several new parts...I could probably get $1100-$1400 if I sold it as is.

My question is how much could I get if I parted it out? I see folks do this all the time and some even appear to making a living out of it...

sold her over the weekend...
I got 1000. I know I could have gotten a couple hundred more but it did need 'some' work...
I'm sure if I parted it out I could have gotten 1500-2000 after it was all gone.
which I bet would have taken a while...
anyway, now I can concentrate on my '91 250x.
