I am having a weird problem with my yfz 450, maybe someone could help me figure this problem out. The lights on my quad always kinda flicker like they arent getting all the power til you rev the rpm's high, even when you rev it, they still flicker. All wiring looks ok, but it finally burned out one of the bulbs. Anyone have any clue what this could be? A stator or alternator?

I cant figure it out, maybe sometime is loose. There is no reason they should blow.

They dim in and out like that becuse the headlights run off the stator and not the battery. Every time you go give it gas, they should brighten up again.

It's normal for the lights to flicker when not on the gas but it's not normal for the bulbs to be burning out. Check to make sure something isn't grounding.

What year is your yfz and how much do you ride with the lights on?

I just saw a similar problem with an artic cat firecat snowmobile. We traced it to the regulator and it solved the problem. If you know anyone who can use a meter they could easily find out what is going on
