crank abuse

wondering if the stock 400ex crank can take a JE 426 piston w/13:1 compression. im already running the 11:1.

Id be more worried about the stock rod.

With 13:1 on the stock rod it's a gamble. As a general rule of thumb, you shouldn't go higher than 12:1 if that on the stock bottom end. Yeah, you could be ok for a while but IMO you'd be running on borrowed time. If it was me, i'd always be worrying about it so I would just upgrade the rod or not up the compression at all.

can you change out the stock rod off the stock crank. do you have to split the cases? if so may aswell stroke it! the guy at the tech support for dennis kirk told me that i could do it but i was trying to see if anyone on the forums did this upgrade.
