I have read about a few people removing the choke. What does this accomplish and is it easy to do?

easy and well worth it. you have to re-jet after removing the choke.

My riding group makes fun of me for removing my choke. "What are you stupid you going to need that choke." But I'm the one laughing when I fly by them. I didn't rejet and I didn't go with a bigger pilot jet. I just stab the throttle four times and it starts every time.

I just took my choke out and installed a 42 pilot, and adjusted my idle. It starts up very easy now and idles great. Do you have to up the main jet? I heard you dont, I just want to make sure, everything else is completely stock, i run it w/ the air box lid on, stock filter, stock exaust-(for now), I dont think I have to up the main, do I? Thanx

You dont have to, but its a good idea to, so when its cold out your motor will start alot easier. On a 300 stock is a 38, so I put in a 42, cuz its going to be getting cold soon here, it seems to idle very well now. And I noticed a little bit of improved throttle response after removing the choke.
