I have read alot about honda 450R shock rebuilds and they sound great for a budget desert runner I am looking to start building. However, I never hear mention of YFZ shocks.

Do YFZ shocks have the same adjustments available stock as the Honda's do? Or are they missing options?

Looking to possibly get the shocks sent to either TCS, C&D, Derisi, or GT Thunder; but I want to make sure it's the right setup.

Im basicly trying to build a budget toy for around $6000 including quad purchase.

Thanks
Ryan

We have done several yfz shock conversions. The set up is a dual rate preload or dual rate zero preload depending on what type of riding you are doing. The shocks are compression and rebound adj like the hondas.

Alright, so you do a dual rate setup. I believe I have seen some other companies offering triple rate setup.

Is that something optional C&D can do, or is there too little of a difference to make a noticeable improvement?

There isn't enough room on the yfz to have 3 usable springs.

Works has a kit for it for $495 fronts and its triple rate. i'm thinking of getting it

Works Kits are springs only.....I would say redoing shocks are not worth it unless you do it all.. valves and springs.

Derisi also sells a triple rate conversion upgrade.

There is a difference!

I'd like to start by saying that GT Thunder isn't a sight sponsor! Colby pays money to keep this forum free and that should weigh in your decision!

Second, What GT Thunder does with the linkage Colby does on the inside of the shock to give additional travel.

Third, The rebuild that Colby does if far superior in performance to just about every other rebuild out there. I know a few people that have taken Axis/PEP/Elka off to run this rebuild.
