well my mechanic told me that since my quad smokes a little oil smoke at startup that my top end is getting worn out. It's been doing the smoking at startup for a while now. Its all from normal riding, which I do a lot of.

he said that it will eventually progress and the smoke will get worse and I'll start losing power and fouling plugs and that it could maybe last me till summer.

So he said he doesn't necessarily like to put stock spec stuff back in when he rebuilds things and neither do I.

I'm going with a 416 bore and 11:1 compression piston and using a JE piston and a port job.

I haven't felt the power of a built 400 in a while.. What does it feel like lol.

Meh. It will put a little grin on your face. You should go ahead and turn it into a 440. Dont waste your time and money on that middle step. Its enough of a power increase that you'll notice, but I think your going to be disapointed with the 416.

Do as you please. Its your quad. Im just telling you what I would do (since I've been in your situation and have ran both engines).

Good Luck;)

I have heard more good things about the 416 than i have the 440. I met a guy at sahara that had a 416 and he was running all over the 450's at the drag strip

Alot of that is rider and settup.

I stomp my dads 700 raptor in the gruond every time we race. I can flat out smoke any 450 unless the engine has been just completely worked over.

Its all rider skill;)
