Amateur class was limited to 100 studs so you did not get a lot of speed. It is also on a Hockey rink. Hope to run pro next year so I can hook up and go. Got stuck on the wall in the main and got screwed. First moto took 4th out of 9 riders.

have you ever ran any rubber? thinking about trying it.

Yes that's Flees, that picture was from 05 when I won the class on the old 265 and everyone was running 57-58hp TRX's and YZ's. Proof that you don't need the most HP to win, but it never hurts either. He still races with Dustin Hoffman but they run mostly CWIRA from what I've heard.

That rubber thing has been looking more and more interesting, I'm building one for someone right now. I'm not sure I should show it off but who knows if it will work anyway, take a look I've incorporated some different ideas, what do you think?

400ex, crf motor custom alum sub frame, short alum swingarm, alum stem and an adjustable rear shock link.

hahahah hey thats brady's!! looks good! he really did chop the frame up

post some more pics of that crf 400ex...what are you building that for? Ice Racing?

mx Eli
12-27-2010, 08:53 PM
for one its not mine but

yes its for ice racing in rubber class. he's trying to get it under 200 pounds. i dont know if he will do that but it will certainly be light, just look at the frame. its just kinda a project he thought of to do somthing differant.

pinitatv
12-27-2010, 09:11 PM
Here's a link if you want to look at some random pics of ice machines

http://cwira.com look under the photo tab

The 400ex is being built for an unstudded class where guys run soft Hoosier tires cut and sipped with a super short swing arm. I made this one an adjustable no link because the rear end seems to be the most important part of the equation other than the tires...

hey pinit where are you guys planning to do for the radiator?? like where ya going to mount it too.

pinitatv
12-28-2010, 01:58 PM
Well the radiator is going to be one off a crf dirt bike so its small and Brady plans to handle it so I'm not sure. My work on the project is almost complete, he's picking it up this week.

he's gonna miss the first race sunday at this rate.

looks good. nice thought on the adjustable rear.i rode a few rubber quads last season after the races and it was a blast!!

are you going to clean the rust off your screws this year?

pinitatv
12-28-2010, 09:23 PM
I've been talking about building a rubber quad for a few years now just can't bring myself to do it, probably because its not easy and I'm not about finishing anywhere other than on top. The guys that are good know things the rest don't just like it is in studded. one of these years I'll build something.

My screws probably won't be polished up for a few years, I have a 1.5 year old and our second on the way so it will be a while I'm afraid.

On another note I'm building something new right now that could be a real nice ice racer, with any luck maybe it will hit the ice once or twice this year......

What are you running this year?

mx Eli
12-29-2010, 09:26 AM
yea he said he should have it ready by mid season. cant wait to see how light weight it is tho:devil:

still runing my old smoker with a few upgrades? we'll see if it can hang with the 4strokes for another season.

i think you were kind of cheaitng with that ktm.

i built a 525 with the ktm supermoto kit and ported it.
way to easy to ride the power came on early and kept reving like a 450! lol

maybe we will run into you on the ice. we will run most of swira and one or two of the cwira runs

mx Eli
12-29-2010, 05:09 PM
hey 330 I didnt know it was you that raced at swira. you get that thing ready for this season?? I was the red #72 450r u raced when you were riding jamie's yfz

2-330s
12-29-2010, 08:34 PM
ya we'll be there sunday. jamie asked if you were goning to step it up and race with him? lol he's pumped for this year!:D

mx Eli
12-29-2010, 10:23 PM
hahah well actually my dad will be racing that quad and I will be in open a with my new one

but i might have to come back to give him a run for his money. i never had good tires last year, we didnt know to do this magic 10-15 degree angle thing with the studs.

tell him to take off those +2 a arms. and dont tell me that motors stock:mad:

2-330s
12-30-2010, 01:07 PM
he is moving to the a class this year. that motor was stock last year except the slip on motoworks pipe, jetting and retarding the exhaust cam one tooth. that thing honked for a stock quad!
i love my hondas but if i were to run the production class i'd have a yfz. they run more like a 2-stroke.

al jonson was over three weeks ago when i broke it open for the first time.(still had 05 antifreeze in it i think he got his moneys worth)lol.

jamie wanted to race atwater this summer.we pulled it out of the trailer to jet it and the lower rod bearing took a crap! not bad for 5 years of beating on it.

it won't be stock this year. hope we can get it back together in time, his new rod got lost in the mail so we are trying to get one overnighted.:ermm: hahah well actually my dad will be racing that quad and I will be in open a with my new one

nice. what did you get this year?

mx Eli
12-30-2010, 02:36 PM
I got the 07 450r in my sig it's set-up for mx but i got lowered and some other stuff like hans did.
tell jamie the two youngest kids in the class will be leading ( me and jake foti)

it'll be pay back for sure

hey I see that a lot of you guys are running pro and a class I race in a local series in mass In amature only because I am running a stock motor I had a question about front tires A lot of guys here run dual ribbed sanstar tires laced with studds on both ribs do you think thats the best setup I run razor 2s with 6 studs per center knob and 4 on the outside knobs sometimes I feel like I am turning my wheels and the quads not turning just wanted some advise thanks

hiway6969

i got a question about the studs, im gonna do a race in va beach where they only give u 100 studs......i have razr2's all the way around.....will the studs destroy the tires or do they only go into the knob and not pierce the tire all the way??? if they r gonna destroy my razrs ill put my junk set back on lol

jpfmotors
01-05-2011, 09:11 AM
I would guess that it depends on how long the tread on the studs are and how much knob is on the tire

contact the ICE series before you go they have 1/2" and 5/8" studs for that class if i remember correct.

i think that is the series you are talking about.

i have seen a few quads with the ribbed tires on but have never tried them.

you should be able to make the tires that you have work.

are you running a sway bar, do you have your quad lowered?

What are you guys doing for fenders this year or is your track not enforcing new AMA rules about having fenders on all 4 corners.

Our track in Cedar Lake IN says in a few weeks they are going to mandate that everyone conform to the AMA rule.

Anyone have pictures of their setups if you are running them.

Thanks for any help
