my friend got a 07 yz250f and it hauls. it beats the kawis and suks, and puls the same as a crf, so honda or yami will do imo.

All the 250f's ( of the same year ) pull the same, torque and hp are off by a tenth if that here and there. the only way you can differ the engines are through reliability and power delivery.

ok want your input on this...
would it be smarter to but a whole motor or just buy the bottom end with a good crank and but the 290 kit for 650 on here and but the hot cams, carb, the whole valve system and head and all that ?
the 290 kit is 650'ish
http://www.rockymountainmc.com/vehicleFilter.do there you go... let me know
thanks!

bro, lol.

Boring out a 250f motor would lower its reliabilty level " if you will " drasticly. Why don't you just buy a 450 motor and keep it stock.

ok to fill you in 100% this is goin in a blaster... i've had for a while and i cant sell it so im makein it to a 4-stroke and i think since its super light that if i would get some aftermarket shocks in it and stuff i would ahve a fast bike....

i know the 250f motor in the bike is fast and i dont think the blaster chassie is to much more weight...

the jug that i would get is sleeved and all that for the 290CC im not boreing anything on the motor, its like bolting a 310CC on a 250r or a 480 on a 450r... its just a bold up top end...

ok i was crunchin on some numbers...

the frame i have.
a-arms-400
motor-1550 ( the bottom end then the top and all that being bought in pieces)
swinger-300
axle-150
brakes-400(hydro blaster brakes front and rear.)
shocks-400( fronts only)
stem-150
equals.... 3395

now im think i can sell some stuff..
brakes- at least 175 for all mine.
a-arms-60
exhaust-35?
shocks-20 for all
axle- 50
motor- 600
carb-75-100
wirein-50??
that is 1080.
and the differance is 2315...
im spendin 2315 on all the aftermarkets and then i still have tires and rims to go and a exhaust... im gonna be over 2700 on this build... and i can have a pimped 250r for 3000... mabie i will do it as a side project or build it and not thro on al lthe a-arms and stuff on it...

whats your input?

You could probably buy 2 blasters with all that money your putting into that thing. Take that cash and buy and buy a used 400ex or even better, find a used 250f and take the motor out of that. Then sell the roller for another $1500. I've ridden a fast *** blaster one time dude, it was a 240 and it has some super formula in that engine im tellin you. It would honestly flip me whenever i touched the throttle. It seems your wasting your money but different strokes for different folks. Just look around for some good deals and bargain with people. i just picked up a fresh 2005 yz 250 for 2 grand even.

it looks like a 250r chassie...

i just thought its something its never been done to me... i know the CT 240 kit is a fast motor, i just figuered since people are goin to 4-strokes i could build on and see how it does. i have the ablity to get to just about all the tools that i would need. i have a MIG welder that i can use and im buyin a TIG welder...
i have a cuttin tourch, grinders plasma.. and i have a buddys gramp that can get me all the metal i would need. i have a mill and a lathe also...

i did some math the other night and as i said it would cost me 3395 with just about all the aftermarkets you can put on it...

i would have to find out what the CC's are for the atv's in the 250 class...
any one know the age groupes and CC's for the 250's....

i think that this would be a very nice ride if i would take my time and do it right...

i think i would kinda coppy the 250r frame rail spots and stuff i have a shop teacher that is really smart with all this ... it was in a race team for years...
thanks for all the help...
