on my truck, i have tint on the side windows which needs to come off for a insurance inspection. Is it easy to take off? i would like to salvage it and put it back on after inspection, is that possible? thanks

When you take it off, some of the adhesive will stay on. As for getting it off, I imagine if you clean the holy hell out of your window, it'll come off.

As for reusing it...You'd be better off buying new tint.

Use a heat gun, or blow dryer. It will come right off. might have to clean some of the residue off with paint thinner or something. as for reusing it, just buy new tint.

i retinted my truck not too song ago. as for getting it off i just used a razr blade. took prolly 15 min to get it off each window. trick is getting it off in big pieces. and make sure you have more than one blade.

i bought 20% at wal-mart and it turned out real well. just make sure you got somebody helping u if u plan on doing it yourself. makes it a LOT easier.

ehh not really. just make sure and take your time. its best to do it in warm weather too so you prolly need a shop to do it in.

this is pretty much the exact instructions i followed when we done mine

as far as removal use a heat gun and a razor blade. some windex. when you put it on youll want a 50/50 or 25/75 soap and water mixture. and a squeagie (sp) take your time

My friend took his truck to a shop and got tint put on both of his windows for 70 bucks.

I've helped him out with other windows that he put tint on...and 70 dollars is alot easier...maybe that's 'cause I'm lazy.:chinese:

Im also looking into tinting my own windows. Anyone know what the legal limit is? 20%?

My uncle used to be a window tinter so I might hook up with him. My dad took tint off one of hi old cars with a razor blade and soapy water.

HOW DARK CAN WINDOW TINT BE IN FLORIDA?
Darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). In Florida, this percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and the window.
• Windshield Non-reflective tint is allowed along the top of the windshield above the manufacturer's AS-1 line.
• Front Side Windows Must allow more than 28% of light in.
• Back Side Windows Must allow more than 15% of light in.
• Rear Window Must allow more than 15% of light in.

unless cops are strict there they wont really mess with you. legal tint on front window here is 40% and i got limo tint and dont really get messed with.

unless you have had previous experience or have someone helping you that has done it before, go ahead with it. otherwise i got 5 large windows in my grand prix done for just over 200 bucks. (32%) Its less of a hassle to get it done and it will be done in a couple hours professionally. You run the risk of greatly getting air bubbles if you do it yourself. Plus most shops will 100% fix the tint if it gets screwed up, but if you put a scratch in it, its all your fault.

Hahaha..that's funny.:)

I remember back in the day when I use to see people that tried to tint their windows without any water / water soap solution. Talk about a half arse job!:p

For my Cherokee to do all the windows and window strip up front it ran me 210. That included stripping the old tint and everything. Plus it was computerized templates for the windows. Also after reading over the Florida tint law posted below... Lil different than what I was informed of from the local pd... But for the price I got it done doin all the windows for 210, I would be glad to pay it again.

and if your gonna do it yourself i wouldnt recommend buying that wal mart tint or cheap tint of that nature. from what i've seen and heard that tint turns purple after a while i've seen it many of times. so if your gonna do it yourself i'd recommend not going cheap buyin the film. i got mine done proffessionally for $300. but that also included cause i had a back electric slider window, they had to take some tint off the front windows, and it being highly illegal here they had to jack up the price like 20 bucks and accepted cash only oh and also cause i had a supercrew.

I tried doing it on my dakota like 3 times. Each time failed....haha.

Lets just say, once i get more cash flowing in, I will be paying the $100 to get it done proffesionaly. Its not worth the hassle in my book. I think i spent about 50 on film already....lol
