So are you ever going to give us some details on this. I would love to build a motor like this. Sounds like it would rip.

It's your funeral Rich!

Seriously though, aren't you machining some of the parts for these Jon? Are you going to start mass producing these for the public sometime or even just a few for select people? I'd like to build a full-on duner in the next couple years and would seriously consider this cylinder if it was reasonably priced? How many overbores does it have?

I know deep down you want to sell them.........:blah:

ok it's not my place to say: it is a snowmoble cylinder

Does the cylinder bolt right on (with cases machining of course)? How does the power compare with CPI's Sabertooth 500 cylinder?

no, the studs do not line up and nobody around here has anything like a saber, but jon is going to glamiis next month so if he don't blow his motor (370) like last time will see how it compares to the big boys

How much compression are you running in those motors? A guy who lives near me used to have a drag rotax honda that was a beast at 200psi but he had to get a starter system made for it...everytime he'd kick it, it would almost break his foot lol.

It ran consistent 4.1s on a drag frame and high compression. 4.5s with 150psi and oem frame.

Nice motor!

because jon had to cut me a custom dome because we changed the deck height on this (1)of (2) made we ended up with 160psi at assembly will gett a break in compession reading today we really wanted to run pump gas and are shooting for 170 to 175

lookin real good. are you concerned at all about the size of the stinger tube? plans to throw it up on the dyno?

hang1p
02-14-2008, 06:52 AM
stinger tube? if you mean exhaust the is a esr centermount trx 5 pipe I've been running for years I would like to hitt the dyno probably loking at somewhere in the 60hp rangeand I know some people are claiming that there 310 puts out 60hp but I'm going by jons last 350pv put out 58hp and the 330pv 53hp

The stinger is the end of the pipe - where the silencer slips over it. Many designated-bigbore pipes have a larger diameter to improve air flow. Like all other big bore motors, they draw a lot more fuel and air at a quicker pace, I wanted to know your and jon's thoughts on going with a bb pipe to help the exhaust exit quicker and reduce the back pressure.

I thought that was the point of the centermount TRX-5. It eliminates the sharp bend of the stinger around the frame , unlike all other standard mount pipes, whether they're big bore or not, by using a much straighter, shorter stinger.

The trx-5 decreases the acuteness of the bend, however it's still the same diameter. Big bore pipes have a larger diameter at the stinger - which is what I am interested in!

I'm loving the bike! How is it to kick over?

I don't know the actual physics, etc but I would think that having a straight smaller diameter stinger compared to a bent larger diameter stinger would be near the same, as far as flow, etc is concerned. Obviously this couldn't be compared in extreme cases. How much larger is the diameter of the BB stingers compared to regular stingers anyways? This is an interesting topic, thanks.

Sparks and LRD are the best pipes for larger big bore 250R`s. Sparks are the best if you can find one. The stingers are definitely larger and effect top end the most as well as controlling the heat. On a 2 stroke 30% of the power comes from proper exhaust. Much less on a 4 stroke!!!

i hear what you guys are sayin about the pipe stuff. My friend jon370 has been in contact with some pipe builders because he is always in the search for more power so I'll have to let him answer with the facts but I'll have to guess that if he don't have a hand made pipe from whoever by now the results must not be worth it. I know he has done some research but i can't remember the names and the $ amount
