View Full Version : Suzuki ltz or Honda 250r for MX

I would like to know which would be better for MX with the following mods

LTZ-
455 big bore kit, Elka elite shocks all arround, full gussett kit, FMF powerbomb header and 4.1 pipe

TRX-
Bored to either 265 or 310 (want low end power), Elka elite shocks all arround, good pipe for low end.

I know both quads will have enough power with some to spare, so I guess it comesw down to handling and ergos. I think I have it set on the 250r but I am not sure. Please help me make my decesion! (please no brand-loyal opinions. I just want to know which one will be better for what I want)

Out of the two set-ups you mentioned, I would think the 250R is your Go-To. Now, if you throw the LTR 450 into the mix the playing field is now closer to being leveled. I'd personally still pick the 250R over the LTR 450 but that's just me.

Here's what I'd seriously look for if you're leaning towards a 'smoker. Something like my 1991 LT250R QuadRacer:

That's two for the smoker so far. The 450 is not an option. It is between the 250 and the 400

for xc..? i dunno comes down to your personal tastes. I would say their almost the exact same.

If your going to race, why those quads! and not a 450? you if raced the 250r if cant race the 450s like it use to I thougth they had there own class the 250 2-stroke class? but the Z400 was the first 4-stroke to beat the 250r on the mx track had the power ,didnt fatigue rider was why it was the best at the time till the 450s hit the scene. GO with 450 IF your going to race. the 455 suzuki in my opion is much better quad than the 250r. by the way thats a sweet looking 250r !
