This has been talked to death on this forum, and before some moderator tells you to do a search, i'll post the link for you. Notice all the moderators waste a thread and tell ppl to do a search, and don't actually try searching themselves and see how hard it is to actually find something in a search. Do a search for 400ex kickstart, and you'll find pages of threads of ppl saying it can't be done, and threads of ppl saying to do a search.
I thought forums were for spreading knowledge, not telling ppl that something might work, or do a search, you might find it, ;P
anyways, enough ranting:

i think the only way to do it is to find an xr 400 motor off a dirt bike and if u really want to have a one of a kind ,i also think there was one year they had a liquid cooled motor , i'm not for sure on that , but it is what i was told. I thought about doing it to my 400 but didn't

I believe the only liquid cooled ex was a one-of-a-kind deal made by four stroke tech. You could prolly have them make you one if you won the lottery. You do not need a whole xr bottom end. just the clutch basket (for the kicker gear behind it, the kicker gears, a modified kick lever, brake pedal, and a hinson side cover.
Tonnes of great info from steve #7 in the above links
