On saturday my bike cut out on the face of a pretty big triple (crf250, f*** those carbsssss) so i went eddie endo-ing head first into the landing of the triple. To make matters worse the bike then hit me in the back, breaking my helmet, and dislocating my hip. So as i was laying there with my lower body looking like a pretzel i was amazed that my neck and head were fine. My helmet worked and so did my leatt, the double whammy of landing head first and then the bike hitting me in the back of the head, snapping my neck forward makes me confident in its performance. It was up in the air whether i broke my neck or not even after x rays, but it turns out everything was fine (but mannnn was i sore). After 2 tries in the ER to pop my hip back in it was off to the operating room, which sucked. But now I just have crutches and lots of PT to look forward to, not a wheel chair. I won't be able to ride for a good 3-4 months, but my head and neck area were a-ok. I know most of you have your opinions about the leatt, too expensive, gimmick, etc, but i'm just saying that you should give it a chance, i'm sure glad I did.
heres my helmet. sorry for the ****ty picture but im posting this from my phone. you can see the two vertical lines where it cracked in the goggle strap area
