i am trying to figure out how wide to go with new a-arms with a 4 to 1 off set front wheel. i race xc and would like to keep the front end about 45 in. wide. does any one know?

Stock is 45.3" If you want to keep it there and want new a-arms and the 4:1 offset wheel then get +1 a-arms and the 4:1 offsets. For XC i think +1 is the best setup for the 400ex. 46.3" makes you as wide as a stock 450r and is perfect.

so will a plus 2 with the 4to 1 wheels put it out to a 46.3? and i also want long travel arms. i have a buddy with a all stock 400 and we measured his and it only measured 42in. and i have stock a-arms with a positive off set rim (plus 1 on each side) and i measured 45in. on mine (outside to outside) my buddies is a 05 and mine is a 99.

get some +4s :D
jk dont cuz that would be way way to wide for xc but they look nice for mx if you have your rear widened out that far too with some low sitting shocks
