we have a blaster hybrid that we bought already built and was told that this bike weighed in around the same as a hand built 90 mod my boy has adapted well to his but still needs plenty of practice, one other thing we did is used a raptor 660 elka shock in the rear to bring down the ride height which made the bike handle much better, and he seems more comfortable on it, good luck on your search.

as drr5 said the blaster is a good mod starter,i built the one he now owns..it weighs 304# my jbracing 90 mods weighs 299#.aside from the price difference the custom mods have more desirable geometry,wider- 50 inches, more suspension travel and use mini quad plastic which works well for smaller kids.if you're running locally i'd suggest the blaster you already have if you're going to venture out the maybe a jb or dc motorsports mod...i have a jb 90mod with 1/2 season's use for sale...

to camsdad thanks for the info that's just what i was intrested in dollar for dollar the weight savings isnt that great as for wide stance the mod would be great but our blaster is wider than most and seems to handle good. we will learn more as we go.
